Mohs Surgery and Skin Cancer

Mohs Surgery and Skin Cancer

Dr. Kivett conducts full body exams. He also conducts skin cancer treatment/removal procedures on the three main skin cancers, melanoma, basal cell and squamous cell.

One specialized form of cancer removal for basal and squamous cell carcinoma, is called Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Kivett has trained and published with Dr. Mohs and routinely performs the surgery.

Skin Spots and Sun Damage

Skin Spots and Sun Damage

For the 20% of all Americans who develop skin cancer, 98% will survive, as long as it is dealt with early in the course of its growth.

Sun damage is in part reversible. Please do consider a skin cancer screening visit, for all of the right reasons.

Wounds, both acute and chronic

Wounds, both acute and chronic

We treat wounds of most types, of sudden onset (acute) or of long history (chronic), on any body site and at any depth down to the point of entering a body cavity or other specialized site.

Hand, Wrist, and Arm Conditions

Hand, Wrist, and Arm Conditions

Toward the end of his reconstructive plastic surgery training, Dr. Kivett had a one-year dedicated training fellowship in hand, wrist and arm surgery with an orthopedic and a plastic surgeon who had both focused their careers on just this type of surgery.

Birth Defects

Birth Defects

Dr. Kivett’s whole reason to go and get eight additional years of training was so he could treat impoverished children overseas with birth defects on a charity basis.

Treatment of birth defects is now something that he does regularly. For several years, he was an Advisor to the Board of Directors of a San Diego-based group of plastic surgeons with 40+ years of existence.

Surgical Repairs (Reconstruction)

Surgical Repairs

Repair (reconstruction) is needed for various wounds, which can be of sudden onset (acute) after an accident or a cancer removal by a surgeon. Repair may also correct a longstanding (chronic) problem after tissue breakdown, an infection or the appearance of a birth defect.
